Windows 7 Voice Recognition

Have you tried out the voice recognition software that comes "free" with each version of Microsoft Windows?   With a little training of software and the user this bit of free software is quite powerful and useful.

First of all why would you use this bit of software?
  1. If you are not able to type for some reason.
  2. Have never learned to type?
  3. Have issues with spelling? the speech engine will spell for you!
  4. Just wanting to try out something new?
Start this process under the best possible circumstances by doing the following.
  1. Start with a good noise canceling headset, which will do two things
    1. keep the microphone a fixed distance from your mouth
    2. the noise canceling with prevent background noise from adding fun words to what you are saying
  2. Make sure that the microphone you use connects digitally (USB)
  3. As stupid as it sounds while performing this the first time, perform the training "take speech tutorial" and "train your computer to better understand you"
Now, try talking to your computer!

The simplest way to do this is to start small and expand out from there.  I suggest opening either word, or outlook and trying it out.
